What are Ayurveda Doshas?
According to Ayurveda, we are all creations of the eternal 5 elements Fire, Earth, Air, Water, and Space. Furthermore, It can be defined as a person’s health personality in accordance with his physical mental and emotional prowess. Ayurveda believes that these elements shape our personalities and health. Awareness of our personalities can help us to make better decisions about our health as to things that would suit our body and things that don't. On this basis, there are 3 health personalities that shape us called Vaata, Pitta and Kapha. Our human body has two dominant doshas. Let us understand what the terms are.
Vata: It is made up of 2 elements of air and space. The people who have a slim and slender frame are said to have a Vata Dosha. They are known for their wit and wisdom. Their brain is highly creative with quirky ideas. They are also described as cool, light, dry, rough, free-flowing and magnanimous.
Pitta: It is made up of Fire and water. The people with this dosha have a strong yet clingy personality. They have muscular and athletic build and possess leadership qualities. They are highly competitive and have an aggressive personality that can irritate some people who are around them. They are also described as being hot, light, sharp, oily, liquid, and extroverts.
Kapha: Also pronounced “Kuppa” the people from this dosha are based on earth and water which gives them a calm and collected personality. They have thick bones and are slightly more built-in in their appearance. They also are very caring by their nature. They are also described to be steady, stable, heavy, slow, cold, and soft.
With these doshas, a person may possess one dosha as primary and the second dosha as secondary which make the following outcomes for different persons:-
- Pitta- Vata
According to Ayurvedic beliefs, there should be a striking balance between primary and secondary doshas for better health. Furthermore, it can be achieved following a diet and exercises that are suitable for doshas.
